Jan 2008 – Present: Contract Business Intelligence Consultant within Stockport PCT Primary Care Trust and Web Developer for Local Organisations.
Specifying, designing, implementing, Project Managing and documenting a Business Intelligence system using SQL Server 2005 focusing on SSIS and various data sources with SUS (Secondary User Service) as the primary data source with a view to extending this data warehouse in the future to extract other data sources such as SLAM (NHS finance system) and QOF (Quality Outcome Framework). The SUS data sources included Payment By Results and Extract mart. Information extracted from these marts include Accident and Emergency, Spells, Outpatients and Episodes of care. The main objective of this information system is to empower the Information Analysts to more effectively respond to reporting requirements.

During April negotiated some part time work from home at Stockport PCT to deliver SQL Server Analysis Services cubes (SSAS) cubes. The business objective of these SSAS cubes is to deliver quality investigation reports on NHS Payment by Results data sets.


April 2008 - July 2008: Contract Senior Business Analyst within Barnsley Hospital and Web Developer for Local Organisations.
Focusing on
Payment By Results, Reference Cost and 18 Weeks to meet agreed targets. Mentored the process of performing a data mapping exercise between data sources and their forth coming data warehouse.

Sept 2007 - Dec 2007: Contract IT Consultant within Tameside and Glossop NHS Primary Care Trust and Web Developer for Local Organisations. Performed a variety of roles such as Database Analyst / Development, Business Analysis and Project Management. Creating the following example deliverables; - reporting tools, data warehouse server specifications, risk logs, data dictionaries, requirements analysis documents and 18 Weeks Patient Referral to Treatment reports, exposure to various data sets such as Connecting for Health Secondary Uses Service (SUS) and Commissioning Data Sets (CDS). Various reports were created using HRG (Health Care Resource Groups) and OPCS (Office for Population Censuses and Surveys) to perform more detailed analysis on this information. These reports were typically delivered to senior managers and directors within the PCT.

July 2001 – Sept 2007: Senior IT Officer within Leeds City Council and Web Developer for Local Organisations.
Responsibilities:  Database design & development, focusing on business-critical, technical and strategic needs within this authority. Including implementation of all stages of the Software Development Life Cycle in MS Access and MS SQL Server using SQL, VBA, Visual Basic, VB.NET and Crystal Reports. More recently specialising in VB6 to VB.NET migration and
Visual Fusion. Provided technical advice to other database designers and always ensure use of clear specifications and documentation to empower users to design their own queries and reports.  Delivered cascade training to an entire division of 300 users.

Sept 2000 – June 2001 Various temporary assignments Including training of supervisors / managers in the use of Excel; designing web sites using FrontPage 2000; and designing databases using MS Access 97 and VBA for the Civil Service.
